Wycombe Wanderers are reportedly interested in re-signing former striker Uche Ikpeazu from League One rivals Port Vale.

The Ugandan forward, who spent the 2020/21 season at Adams Park when the Chairboys were in the Championship, has scored one goal in 17 appearances for the Valiants after he re-joined the Staffordshire-based team in the autumn, following the termination of his contract at the Turkish side, Konyaspor.

However, if Wanderers want to secure the services of the 27-year-old, they will need to fend off competition from fellow third-tier club, Charlton Athletic, according to Sky Sports.

It’s not the first that the forward has been linked with a move back to Buckinghamshire, as he was reportedly increasingly close to signing a contract with Wycombe in the summer.

His trainer also teased via social media that a potential return was on the cards.

However, no transfer materialised and he opted to sign for Port Vale, where he had a brief spell during the 2015/16 season, where he scored six goals in 28 matches in all competitions.

This is the fourth consecutive transfer window that Ikpeazu has been linked with a move back to Wycombe.

He scored six goals in 33 matches during his only season at Adams Park.
