Wycombe Wanderers forward Bez Lubala has revealed that there is a ‘huge belief’ in the Chairboys team since moving to the club in January.

The Congolese striker joined the Adams Park side from Burton near the end of the previous transfer window and scored his first goal for the club in Wanderers’ 2-0 win over Cheltenham Town.

His strike was a 25-yard rocket that flew into the top-left corner of the net, after being on the pitch for just over five minutes.

Speaking to the press, he said: “Since I’ve been here, there’s a huge belief in the team as the work the staff do behind the scenes shows that there is a lot of belief here.

“With that, we believe we’re going to turn things around to get those goals which will help us get the results we deserve.”

On his goal which settled the win against the West Country-based team, he added: “As soon as we got the free-kick, they pushed a lot of their players forward so there was a bit of space.

"When I got the ball, I knew what strike I was going for.

"It was all about concentration, making sure my first touch was good and getting that connection.

“I’m just glad it went in - to get my first goal for the club was amazing and seeing the fans celebrate was brilliant.”

Wanderers centre back, Joe Low, who also scored in the victory, added: “Bez’s goal was quite good too as well, wasn’t it?

“He’s been brilliant since he has come in as he’s got that quality which he has shown us.”

Up next for Wycombe is Barnsley at home on March 2.
