Wycombe Wanderers celebrated the life of season ticket holder Aaron Lockyer during Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Rotherham United at Adams Park, three weeks after the 28-year-old’s untimely death.
Supporters of both clubs participated in a minute’s applause during the 28th minute of the League 1 encounter, while Wanderers’ players wore armbands as a mark of respect.
The club expressed its deepest condolences to Aaron’s mother and close friends during a private meeting with club directors Dan Rice and Eduard Vyshnyakov and senior players Sam Vokes and Luke Leah, who handed over a shirt with AARON 28 printed on the back, signed by the squad, plus tickets for the game.
A group of supporters later congregated at the Flint Cottage in High Wycombe to raise a toast to Aaron, who had followed the Blues at home and away games for the past couple of years.
The much-loved Chairboy was found deceased on July 31, with his funeral taking place on August 20.
