Wycombe Wanderers head coach Mike Dodds has provided an injury update ahead of his side’s away trip to Leyton Orient on Saturday.
Josh Scowen and Richard Kone were both hurt in the recent 4-0 home loss to Charlton Athletic on Easter Monday, and the 38-year-old is hoping the two will recover in time for the clash at Brisbane Road this weekend.
The Chairboys currently sit third and know a victory against the East London outfit, along with a potential slip in Wrexham’s match at Charlton later that day, could see the Adams Park side go second.
Speaking on Kone and Scowen, Dodds said: “We’re at that stage of the season where you’re conscious about how you manage [injuries] and the sport scientists here are doing a brilliant job preparing players.
“Josh had a tight hamstring, which was always going to be a risk over the two games [across Easter].
“It was something we tried to manage to the best of our ability.
“I think he’ll be OK for the weekend, but we’ll assess him over the next 48 hours, and hopefully he’ll be back on the training pitch.
“Richard is in a similar boat as he takes plenty of whacks.
“He seems to get a bit of a raw deal, but when you’re a good player, you are always going to get a bit of extra attention.
“Hopefully, he’ll be back on the grass, and fingers crossed, they’ll be back for the weekend.”
On facing Leyton Orient, who have won four of their last four games and sit in the play-off spot, Dodds added: “They’re not shrinking violets as they will be in your face – they play some very good football and have a very good season, where they are pushing for the play-offs.
“They’ll be fighting and scraping, just like we are for the automatics.”
