Wycombe Wanderers head coach Michael Duff has been charged by the Football Association following his dismissal after the club's 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at Adams Park.
Duff was sent off at the full-time whistle on September 1 after an exchange with a match official following.
Despite being red carded, he was able to sit in the dugout for the Chairboys’ 3-3 draw against Milton Keynes on September 5.
In a statement released on Monday, September 7, the FA confirmed it had charged the Wycombe boss with misconduct.
The statement said: "Michael Duff has been charged for misconduct following Wycombe Wanderers' EFL League One match against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday September 1.
"It's alleged that the manager used abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official at full-time, leading to his dismissal."
Wanderers had taken the lead on six minutes through a Cauley Woodrow strike, before Louie Barry equalised five minutes later.
On the stroke of half-time, Woodrow was deemed to have fouled Callum Slattery in the penalty area, which was given.
Jamal Lowe scored the spot-kick, which turned out to be the winner.
Both Woodrow and Slattery were involved in a scuffle during the half-time break.
In the second half, Gabriel Otegbayo looked to have handled a Caolan Boyd-Munce shot in the box, but no penalty was given.
The FA has given Duff until Wednesday, September 9, to respond to the allegation.
