A highly individual, cedar-clad detached house built with high eco-credentials in this well-placed down land village.

Tanglewood is an individually built house constructed using structural insulated panels (SIPS) which have high levels of insulation and create highly energy efficient buildings. To compliment this method of construction, the property also has a heat recovery system and underfloor heating to the ground floor with radiators to the 1st floor (gas fired), and a rainwater harvesting system with underground tank.

The house is situated in an elevated position in a discreet and tranquil position close to the heart of this well-placed village. The house is accessed via a shared entrance which leads to a private gravelled driveway with double garage.

The accommodation is arranged over two floors with the ground floor providing a welcoming entrance hall with stairs leading to the first floor. There is a double-aspect sitting room with fitted log burning stove, a triple aspect kitchen/dining/family room, utility room and cloakroom. The first floor has a very impressive master bedroom suite with an ensuite shower room, a separate area containing a bath on a raised plinth, and a further walk-in dressing room. The dressing room also has a paddle staircase which leads up to the loft which is currently laid out as three areas but could, subject to the necessary planning and building consents, provide further accommodation. The first floor also has a guest bedroom with a balcony and ensuite bathroom, two further bedrooms (one of which has another balcony) and a family bathroom.

The property sits quite centrally in its plot and therefore benefits from gardens to all sides. There is extensive timber decking which picks up on the afternoon and evening sun, large areas of lawn, a garden pond and the garden for the most part is enclosed by natural hedging, and trees and thus affords a high degree of privacy.

West Hendred is situated midway between Wantage and Didcot on the A417 and is also situated on the northern stopes on the downs in the Vale of White Horse. West Hendred has a newly refurbished pub, church, and a village hall, and the adjacent village of East Hendred has many excellent facilities including two churches, three public houses and a village shop with Post Office. There is a C of E primary school, St Amand's Catholic Primary School, and a pre-school. The village also has a community centre and sport's club. Didcot, with its mainline rail station to Paddington (approx. 45 minute service) is about 5 miles away. The A34 is also nearby providing easy access to Oxford to the north, and Newbury and junction 13 of the M4 to the south. The nearby town of Abingdon provides excellent schooling including The Manor Prep School, Abingdon School and the school of St Helen and St Catherine.

West Hendred is situated on the A417 road between Wantage and Didcot. If proceeding in a westerly direction on the A417, proceed through the village of East Hendred and on entering West Hendred turn left into The Greenway. Proceed for approximately a couple of hundred yards and Tanglewood can be found on the left hand side.
