BUCKS and the surrounding area has some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain, and an art exhibtion is celebrating the best of the British countryside.

The Obsidian Art gallery in Stoke Mandeville is hosting British Countryside: Flora and Fauna, until June 10.

More than 50 artists from around the UK are displaying their work, with about 250 paintings, sculptures and drawings, including unusual cast-glass by Sabrina Cant, etched glass window hangings from Antonia Macgregor, pencil drawings of mammals and birds by Angela French.

There is also a selection of work from wildlife artists David Perkins, Jonathan Pointer and Chris Jones, as well as sculptures of acorns and seeds by James Matthews, hares and otters by Paul Jenkins and puffins and seals by Nicola Beattie, alongside landscapes and coastal scenes.

The exhibition also includes some of local photographer John Kyle's work.

The British Countryside - Flora and Fauna show is on at Obsidian Art, The Bucks Goat Centre, Old Risborough Road, Stoke Mandeville until June 10. Opening times: 10am to 5pm weekdays and Sat and 11am to 4pm on Sun. Entry is free and all work is for sale. Details: 01296 612150.
