MORE than 100 artists will be exhibiting their work in Beaconsfield with a wide range of styles and media on show.

The Buckinghamshire Art Society's spring exhibition will host artists from the area and beyond from April 30 to May 3.

Chris Sims is a Chesham based artist who will be displaying his abstract paintings at the event.

He started his career as a graphic designer and is currently working as a freelancer so he can focus on his real passion of painting.

He said: “I had really only been painting seriously again for ten years. I focus on the natural landscape and what I see around me.

“A lot of my work is created through mark making. I got quite into textures and materials as opposed to representational painting.

“I might use an image of landscape as a starting point and go from there.”

Many of his pieces are produced using printmaking techniques – collagraphs, monoprints and digital composition.

He studied printmaking at Wolverhampton University in the early 80s through an illustration option on a Graphic Design Degree.

Chris is on the committee of the Buckinghamshire Art Society who said they are all looking forward to the exhibition which features paintings and sculptors from professional and semi professional artists.

The society aims to organise at least two exhibitions each year showcasing their work.

Chris added: “We have a great range of people from artists who have just left college to 80-year-olds.

“There is something for everyone.”

The exhibition is at the Fitzwilliams Centre in Windsor End from April 30 to May 3. For more information go to www.bucksart.co.uk.
