AMERSHAM Playgoers Theatre Group offered an exciting programme in the form of a comedy thriller.

It tells of a man who reports his wife missing only to discover that another woman purporting to be his wife appears and everyone except the man is convinced she is his wife. He cleverly demonstrates his frustration at not being believed until the audience are almost convinced he has something to hide. A very clever play written by Robert Thomas and so many twists and turns to the plot it took some concentration to follow the script. The ending was quite a surprise and until the very last scene it was impossible to decide who dunnit. Leigh Anderson was credible as the anguished husband and Louise Audon was appealing as the woman purporting to be his wife. Adam Wood give a fine performance as the Police Inspector and. Janice Talmer was a credible nurse. Peter Edwards played the Gendarme only a small role but he was realistic. A special mention must go to Dennis Ruff who was the most charming and convincing artist/tramp.

The ending was such that no one in the audience appeared to have guessed judging by the comments after the play. Amersham Playgoers Theatre Group in the past has offered some superb productions and this was no exception.
