WITH Mothering Sunday this weekend there are plenty of things to do to impress your mother and say thanks for all her hard work.

National Trust properties in the area area are celebrating with free entry to their properties at Cliveden from 11am-5pm. Booking not needed. Hughenden Manor where you can make a paper posy and find out about the Victorian language of flowers from 11am-4pm.

On Saturday there is free entry to local residents with a HP postcode from 11am-5pm at the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre at Great Missenden. Enjoy a free drink in the newly refurbished café and get a 10 per cent discount in the shop. Visitors need to bring a utility bill as proof of their postcode.

At Wycombe Museum, which is open on Sunday from 2-5pm, there is a hands-on exhibition for all ages which looks at woodland wildlife. Visit a garden at Great Missenden as part of the NGS Gardens Open for Charity scheme at 2pm. The gardens at Overstroud Cottage, The Dell, Frith Hill is open with a herb garden and spring bulbs and old fashioned roses. There are plants and teas available. Tickets are £3.50 and children 50p.

Take a trip to Bekonscot-the world's oldest model village which is open from 10am-5pm. Tickets are £9 for adults and £5.50 for children. Children under 2 free.

There is a Mothering Sunday weekend special at the Chiltern Open Air Museum. Experience some of the tasks women in the past were involved in to run their homes. Meet the 1940s land girl and visit the village to have a go at some of the cottage industries run by women. The first 200 mums will receive a gift Daffodil flower to mark their special occasion! Normal Museum admission prices apply.

In addition, all the Museum's buildings will be open to visitors. £8 for adults and £7 for concessions and £5 for children (5-16). 10-5pm.

THERE are Mother's Day Steam Specials on April 3 with the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway. Mums travel free when accompanied by a fare paying passenger and receive a free posy of flowers.
