It has been a year in the making, but the fifth annual PennFest returns tomorrow for a weekend of quality live performances from a star-studded line up.

Event organiser, Steve Haywood, said: We’re really looking forward to PennFest kicking off on Friday afternoon. The event has grown substantially from last year, with more and bigger artists across the three days.

“As well as our main stage headline acts we also have our wonderful Big Top stage support bands, plus for the first time, our new Old Skool Warehouse which will be featuring some top DJs well into the early hours. PennFest 2015 is an amazing event for Bucks.”

It’s not all about the music though - there will be a range of bars and stalls selling food from around the world, creative workshops, a global artisan market, arts and crafts workshops, a fun fair, street entertainers and performers and a circus workshop to keep children entertained.

As PennFest prepares to open the gates of The Big Park to thousands of live music fans, we’ve highlighted the best parts of the weekend’s performances.

Friday 17 July

Scouting for Girls

The three piece pop rock band are looking forward to heading out in front of the audience at around 9pm on the first day of the three-day festival. Front man Roy Stride said: “We can’t wait for PennFest. We’ll be playing pretty much all of the classics. We’re like a real crowd pleaser at festivals because we play all the songs people like. There will be all the old singles and a few ridiculous cover songs.” With a new album set for release in October, there will also be plenty of new music for Scouting for Girls fans.

The Feeling

BRIT award-nominated English rock band The Feeling are set to perform at an incredible amount of festivals this summer, starting with PennFest this weekend. Since their hit debut album Twelve Stops and Home was released in the UK on 5 June, 2006, the award-winning performers have released three more albums. The Feeling are due to head out onto the stage before Scouting for Girls, at 7.30pm and fans of the five-piece will be delighted to hear some of their classic songs as well as some new tunes from their latest album, Boy Cried Wolf.

Noasis

You’ll be astounded by how similar Noasis are to the five-piece Mancunian super group Oasis. Since they formed in 2006, they have performed over 600 times and earned their reputation as the best Oasis tribute band with incredible attention to detail. The diehard Oasis fans will rock the crowds at 4.30pm.

Don't forget: The Dualers and Jilted Generation on the main stage, Ratpack, Slipmatt, 2 Bad Mice and Jon Paul in the Old Skool Warehouse and SKA Souls UK, Honey Ryder, Shanty, The Jeremiah Brothers and Peter Mercer on the second stage.

Saturday 18 July

Happy Mondays

With Shaun Ryder on lead vocals, his brother Paul Ryder on bass, Gary Whelan on drums, Rowetta as backing vocalist, Mark Day on guitar, Paul Davis on keyboards and dancer Mark "Bez" Berry, Shaun believes their performances are better than ever. He said: "I think the Mondays are better than we’ve ever been. We’ve got all the original band members back and we’re all compos mentis now. We’re older and wiser. We’re all really enjoying performing."  While the audience on Saturday evening are still in for a treat, Shaun admits their performances don’t come with the madness that dominated their gigs back in the nineties. He said: “I don’t do the whole tour bus thing anymore. I get my driver to take me back home after a show now. I wish I had known when I was 20 that you can do a show then go back home to bed." Expect the Happy Mondays at around 9.25pm.

The Fratellis

Glaswegian rock band The Fratellis are best known for their Top 10 hit singles "Chelsea Dagger" and "Whistle For The Choir". The threesome, Jon Fratelli, Barry Fratelli and Mince Fratelli have released three albums; Costello Music in 2006, Here We Stand in 2008 and We Need Medicine in 2013, with a fourth Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied set for release in August 2015. They will be taking to the stage at around 6pm.

The Hoosiers

The Hoosiers lads, who are from nearby Bracknell, are well known for their catchy pop tunes like Worried about Ray, Goodbye Mr A and Cops and Robbers. Bassist Martin Skarendah just left the band in what they described on their Facebook page as "one of the most amicable decisions in music history", but the remaining members, Irwin Sparkes, Alan Sharland and Sam Swallow will no doubt have the audience dancing and singing along to their best songs when they head out on stage at 4.30pm.

Don't forget: Razorlight, Stereo MCs, Dreadzone and The Quotes on the main stage, 808 State DJ Set, Grooverider, DJ Pressure, Runniz and Yakka, Kryptonite, Youngie, MCM Caveman in the Old Skool Warehouse and The Echo, Wolf Club, Magalie, Jus Chillin and The Leader on the second stage.

Sunday 19 July

Jack Pack

The four-piece found fame on Britain’s Got Talent last year, finishing fourth overall and went on to sign a record deal with Simon Cowell’s label, Syco. Now, Sean Ryder Wolf, Alfie Palmer, Andrew Bourn and Martin McCafferty have released their first self-titled album and things couldn’t be better.  Dad-of-two, Andrew, who comes from Wooburn Green, told how their PennFest performance is a highlight of their busy year, and is something of a homecoming. He said: “It will be really nice to perform in the area. We’re really looking forward to it.”

Union J

British boyband Union J, consisting of members Josh Cuthbert, JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley and George Shelley, formed in 2011 and won over the nation when they appeared on the ninth series of the X Factor. Since then, they have released two albums, Union J in 2013 and You Got It All – The Album, last year. Expect all their best loved catchy pop tunes when they perform in front of thousands on the last day of PennFest.

Rebecca Ferguson

Singer songwriter Rebecca, 28, will wow the crowds with her soulful voice. She came to prominence in 2010 when she was the runner-up of the seventh series of The X Factor, losing to the winner that year, Matt Cardle. She went on to sign a joint record deal with Syco Music and Epic Records. Since then, she’s released three albums – Heaven in 2011, Freedom in 2013 and Lady Sings the Blues in March this year.
