Adam Sandler has revealed he feels proud of the skills he learned researching his role in new film The Cobbler, as he had never been very practical at school.
The Pixels star trained with real life cobblers to star in the film about a shoe repairer who finds an heirloom which gives him the power to spend a day in the shoes of his customers.
Adam revealed: “I took lessons in cobbling. I could change a sole on your shoe, I could give you a higher heel if you need that.
“It’s very hard, especially for a guy who doesn’t do that much. I remember in seventh grade making a little workbench in shop class, that’s the last time I worked close to being a cobbler.”
Director Thomas McCarthy revealed: “He would send me videos of him in this shoe repair shop in LA doing these exercises and he was very impressive.”
Adam admitted he was very grateful to the cobblers who gave up their time to help him.
He said: “The cobblers were very nice to me. They let me sit in on their normally hard-working days and talk to them too much and fall behind and they’d have to stay late. And I’d say, ‘All right I have to go home to my mansion’.”
The Cobbler which also stars Dan Stevens, Dustin Hoffman and Steve Buscemi is out now.
