An A-list comedian is rumoured to flick the switch on Marlow’s Christmas lights this year.

It is widely believed that Russell Brand will be this year’s celebrity at the popular annual light switch on, which will take place on Thursday, November 23.

While Marlow Town Council has not confirmed the news to Marlow Free Press, a Marlow resident, who works in a High Street shop and did not want to be named, said she had been told by the council they were hoping the outspoken star would turn the lights on.

Bucks Free Press:

She said: “We were asking the town council to see what was happening so we could tell our clients what was going on over the Christmas period to get them excited about coming to Marlow.

“They said they were hoping he would do the lights.”

Baking queen Mary Berry performed the honour last year, after actor Tom Chambers in 2013, Tom Kerridge the year after and Sir Steve Redgrave in 2015.
