Controversial comedian Russell Brand read out a Bucks Free Press article live on radio in a reaction to some readers’ negative feedback to news that he would switch on Marlow’s Christmas lights this week.
Speaking on Radio X, the funny-man quoted the Free Press’ online story which quoted Marlovian Alasdair Gibb, who said he would not be attending this year, adding that he was “disgusted” at the choice.
It was officially confirmed last month that Brand would be this year’s celebrity guest at the popular lights switch-on, which will take place on Thursday this week.
The news received a mixed reaction, with some residents unhappy with the choice and others delighted.
The event starts at 6pm, with the High Street closed to traffic between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
