After residents expressed their worry over the road layout leading up to the A404 roundabout in Marlow, the council has said the junction will be inspected.

Heading to Marlow from the Bourne End direction, the A4155 Marlow Road has a right-hand turn for Pump Lane South right before Westhorpe Roundabout and this has seemed to cause confusion for drivers in the area.

This junction on Marlow Road has been problematic for drivers with reports of cars using the right-turn lane to carry straight on, crossing over the hatched lines to undertake others in the wrong lane.

A video emerged of an incident of this last week and Buckinghamshire Council have said they will inspect the road marks on the junction.

Cllr Steve Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: "We regularly inspect our road markings to ensure they are in appropriate condition, but we will inspect this particular junction again shortly.

“Any dangerous or illegal overtaking manoeuvres involving drivers ignoring road markings would be a matter for the police."

One resident said it happens “nearly every time” they drive that way.

They continued: “I drive that way, lorries, vans and cars have sped past me over those hatches, it's scary especially when you are a careful driver!

“It only takes one reckless driver to knock someone off a bike or cause an accident.”

Drafting of the Little Marlow parish council's next agenda is yet to take place but residents are hopeful the problem will be on the list.
