AN 18-YEAR-old from Prestwood slept through a killer storm considered to be one of the worst in New York's history.

A group of 31 sixth form students and three members of staff from The Misbourne were left stranded in the city on an Arts and Culture trip.

The group who were staying near Times Square found themselves in New York as the storm hit on Monday night.

Their flight home on Thursday was suspended but are due home this morning.

Geoff Morgan, who is dad of the one of the students, Jessica, said although he was worried they knew she was in safe hands.

He said: "She had slept through it. They obviously couldn't do anything."

Geoff, who is currently on holiday in Spain, said he and his wife, Mandy were glued to the news to see what was happening.

He added: "When it hit it was about midnight for them. We were asleep here. When we spoke to them the next day she said it was fine."

They are due to return home today.

They had planned to visit the sights and see some shows on Broadway, museums and art galleries.

Geoff said the school have been excellent at keeping them informed.

He added: "I hope when she gets back she will tell us the trip hasn't been spoilt. I am sure it hasn't.

"From these sort of situations different adventures happen."
