I HAVE not come across this pantomime before and Wendover Theatre Society offered a very different story from the usual Christmas stories.

An impressive Santa is kidnapped by the evil Vileun the Vile convincing enough to scare the little ones and his equally evil; sidekick Astra. They have captured all the other planets in the solar system and decide the take over earth. By kidnapping Santa they plan to ruin everyone’s Christmas.

With a lively chorus, some good singing and dancing and strong principals it turned out to be quite a treat. A brilliant robot named Roberta and the comedy supplied by Null and Void was just right.

The costumes were gorgeous and the lighting and sound superb which enhanced the performance.

There was a clever ultra violet number which delighted the audience and they demonstrated their approval, but the one who stole the show was a delightful little four year old she was the granddaughter of the director Carol Blake, word perfect and knowing all her dance steps she gave the older members a run for their money. There was a superb spaceship and a monster but as he looked like the Gruffalo the children loved him.

Co-directed and produced by Ellen David this was one of their best pantomimes to date and the faces of the little ones in the audience said it all.

Well done Wendover Theatre Society you should be justly proud of this year’s production.
