CHRISTMAS leftovers from a special festive lunch for residents who would have spent the big day alone will go towards helping two Marlow charities.

Each year Marlow Age Concern holds a meal on Christmas Day for those without anyone to spend it with and 30 people attended the latest.

Various donations were given to fund the occasion and MAC Manager Suzanne Brown said this week £225 was left over. The cash will be shared between age concern and Marlow based charity Pxe, which helps people suffering with eyesight difficulties.

The festive tradition was started by Julie Lyons 4 years ago.

Mrs Brown said: "I would like to thank all the volunteers on the day, particularly Julie and her parents for the soup and trifles, marlow parents email network for all the presents, the helpers on Christmas Eve, including the police, who prepped all the vegetables ready for the big day."

Leftover presents and crackers were given to another charity - St Vincent and St Paul - which helps people with financial difficulties, the bereaved and housebound in the town.
