AN owl sanctuary has got the go-ahead and will open its doors to the public to meet the birds of prey this month.

Building has started at land by the West Wycombe Garden Centre in Chorley Road for 25 aviaries to house rescue owls.

The current Harlington Owl and Pet Rescue Centre, which is based in Heathrow, has outgrown its current space.

It has been rescuing birds for eight years, who are all captive bred, which means they cannot be released back into the wild.

Falconer Terry Travis said he is relieved they have finally got the ok to move.

The open weekend will take place on March 23 to 24 from 10am to 6pm. There will be stalls, fun fair rides, magicians, refreshments and more.

There will also be the chance to hold the owls.
