ABOVE: the Duke of Cambridge enjoys a joke with Mary Berry
CELEBRITY cook Mary Berry won the Royal seal of approval when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Bucks yesterday.
The food writer and TV presenter met the future king and his wife, Kate, at Child Bereavement UK in Saunderton.
The Duchess told the Great British Bake Off star: “I'm a big fan of your cook books and your cakes, they're delicious."
Prince William then met her and said: “My wife is a big fan of yours and my tummy is a big fan of yours.”
He joked about Kate needing some of her teaching and said: “I think I need some lessons to be honest.”
In a jovial exchange, Mrs Berry, a patron of the Buckinghamshire-based charity, made her own quip.
Speaking about cooking as an activity to bring people together, the Duke said: “It's good to get everyone doing something together and turn the television off and do something with the family.”
The food writer told him: “But turn it on again for me.”
The Duke laughed and said: “Very well said Mary.”
