A FORMER Little Missenden resident has written a book which aims to help beat diabetes.

Bill Eykyn penned the book called "I'm Beating Diabetes... So Can You", which is now available to buy.

He now lives in Spain but previously lived in the bluebell woods above Little Missenden for 20 years.

During that time he was a local magistrate, worked as a freelance writer, wrote books and did corporate videos.

Bill said: "These days, a huge number of any readership is at risk of getting diabetes. If they read the book most can avoid it. If they get diabetes, the sad fact is that it's incurable. But the book shows it can be successfully controlled, if action is taken early on."

As a retired journalist, but active writer, he set about researching diabetes and discovered one of the foremost medical diabetic researchers in the world - Professor Antonio Ceriello MD, PhD - who agreed to become the medical consultant to the book.

He said Professor Ceriello came up with the key to control and as a result he is now in normal range blood sugars, which is essential for any thought of longevity as a diabetic.

The book is priced (inclusive of p&p for the UK) on http://imbeatingdiabetes.com/, but otherwise through Amazon, Waterstones, The Book Depository and other leading booksellers at rrp £9.95
