AN Alaskan Malamute inspired a 65 mile walk to raise money in memory of a 15-year-old.

Nathan Twitchett is taking on Brodie's Challenge, which is named after his dog, to raise money for a charity set up in memory of Rob Holland called Rob's ARTTT.

Rob died in 2007 from Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour, a rare form of cancer, aged 15.

Nathan, now 21, was a friend of Rob's at Holmer Green Senior School.

He will walk 65 miles over three days on June 28 with his parents, Mark and Jackie, who are raising money for Cancer Research.

Nathan said: "My parents are doing it as well.

"They are doing it for Cancer Research. I thought, 'Why not do it for a charity I know and means a bit more to me.'"

Rob's ARTTT, was set up to raise money to fund research into the disease, and it needs £34,000 a year to keep the research going.

Nathan's dog Brodie, an Alaskan Malamute, inspired the challenge which will go along the Ridgeway setting off from West Overton in Wiltshire all the way to Chinnor in Oxfordshire stopping overnight at Uffington and Goring on Thames.

He said: "We are all going to be walking with Brodie. We aim to do an average of 22 miles a day."

Nathan, who is a manager at The Swan in Old Beaconsfield, said training is going well.

He is aiming to raise £1,000. To donate go to http://www.justgiving.com/nathan-twitchett-brodieschallenge/
