ALTHOUGH crimes in Princes Risborough has raised slightly, they are still very low, a policeman said.

Talking at Princes Risborough Annual Town Meeting on Wednesday night Sgt Andrew Deane said the new crime figures are 917, compared to the same period last year of 890.

But he said this compares to 3,069 in Marlow and tens of thousands in High Wycombe. He also told the public police cuts have not meant Princes Risborough is losing any police officers, and the town will have the same level of front line service.

Sgt Deane said a lot of the crime is preventative and asked for residents to be aware of not leaving items in their car.

He also said a lot of the criminals are from further afield, with one burglar who broke into a house in Wycombe Road coming as far away as Liverpool.

Sgt Deane said they also have a lot of stolen property unaccounted for as people do not write down their serial numbers.

He recommended using a website (www.immobilise.com) where you can record all your serial numbers which can then be linked with the police database.

Sgt Deane also pointed out that police do not deal with parking issues, unless it is an obstruction of the highway, or with problems with dog mess.
