W.Y.S.P.A.S. staged this well-known play which was a popular television series. It could have been a hard act to follow but they need not have worried, with a very strong cast, a good script and a super director in Erica Elson and written by H.E. Bates this was a triumph for the group.

Everyone played their parts so well and the laughs came thick and fast. The clever set was perfect for the era (or perfec as Pa Larking was apt to say).

I feel I must just make a special mention of Louise Cooper, she was in charge of props and food. The props were numerous and how one person managed them was simply amazing.

She also ensured that there was an ample supply of drinks which were consumed throughout the performance.

The small theatre at the Arts4Every1 Centre was just the right setting to give an intimacy to the proceedings.

The audience were delighted and demonstrated their enjoyment by the gales of laughter which were evident throughout.

I have only seen musicals before from W.Y.S.P.A.S although I believe they have in the past staged many plays. If this is the standard of the work they do, I very much hope they will invite me again as it was such an enjoyable evening.
