THE Masque Players together with their Youth Group Masquerade offered two very different comedies.

Strictly Sex Factor on Ice was written by David Tristram and well directed by Lynn Rockell. This was another in the Little Grimley series which is so popular with amateur dramatic groups.

It had a very strong cast who carried the action along with good pace bringing the comedy to the fore and offering an enjoyable piece of theatre. The director informed the audience that this was just a ‘warm up‘ for Masquerade as it was to be their showcase for the evening.

Dream Team was written and directed by Justin Clinch who runs the youth group it entailed a school girl who dreams of conquering the world, with her three Ninja Turtles and a very amusing cat named Mr Miggins; she sets about taking over the computer at the bank to enable her world domination.

To thwart her plans there were three spies together with their very bossy leader who brings in a suave young man and his ditsy sister to advise them. The plans go awry as only unrealistic plans can and poor Ruth is brought back to reality by her mother calling her in for supper.

This was a crazy romp into unreality and the actors enjoyed it as much as their young audience who whooped and cheered throughout. There was some strong acting from the youngsters which bodes well for the future of the adult group as they mature and hopefully continue as members. A good evening was had by all.
