THE Lane End Players offered a lively celebration of the best of the 60s with music, dancing and sketches.

The musicians were brilliant with some superb guitar solos. The show rolled along at a cracking pace and the singing was interspersed with comic sketches and one liners, together with two ladies as news readers offering insights into the 60s which were both authentic and funny, which was cleverly compiled.

There was a screen above the side of the stage and various clips were shown including a very funny Flake advert and a hilarious scene from Coronation Street devised and acted by members of the cast themselves, whoever thought of this is to be complimented it was a winner.

The cast were listed at the beginning of the programme but unless the audience knew them personally and I didn’t, it would be difficult to single out any individual performer.

However, I must say this group are fortunate in having some very talented men, something of which many groups are in short supply, and they added no end to the overall performance.

The large contingent of ladies performed superbly, singing their hearts out, dancing and moving to the music and demonstrating their lively personalities. There were too many excellent numbers for me to comment on but the audience loved them all and clapped along enthusiastically to the music.

Director and producer Tom Everitt must be justly proud of what the group achieved, it was a show with a real feel good factor and a good time was had by performers and audience alike.
