THE Chesham Bois Catholic Players offered a delightful alternative to the usual pantomime with this musical version of the Ugly Duckling.

The auditorium was filled with Girl Guides, Brownies and many other groups of youngsters. It is the test of a show aimed at younger members of the audience as to how they behave. If they get fidgety it is a sign they are bored.

In this instance they all sat spellbound, not a sound from them throughout the performance.

The set was amazing, and the costumes were a delight. From the smallest member of the cast to the older established performers everything was well rehearsed and with superb choreography which suited the strengths and ability of the cast was a true sign of clever arrangements.

Credit must go to David J Martin Director and Choreographer who could not have improved on the musical, it ran smoothly with no pauses or prompts and everyone knew where they should be and performed with confidence.

A strong cast ensured success but with so many members of the group it would be unfair to name individuals, suffice to say that many of the chorus undertook several roles extremely well.

With live music under the musical director Suzannah Holroyd the whole afternoon proved to be a remarkable and enchanting story enjoyed by all.
