ALL Saints' Church in Marlow has been chosen as the setting for the climax of a Bollywood love story - due out in March.

Bollywood director Vipul Shah chose Marlow parish church as the picturesque backdrop for his ultimate love story, but in the film the location is meant to be Slough.

Namastey London is a passionate trans-cultural love story about a mixed marriage and modern Indians living in the west. It explores how westernised Indians maintain their cultural identity and view love compared with their counterparts growing up in the Punjab, Delhi or Mumbai and features Goodness Gracious Me British comedy actress Nina Wadia.

Filming took place a few weeks before Christmas under the supervision of the Reverend Stanley Jones, editor of the church magazine, The Bridge.

Mr Jones said: "All Saints' is often used in films because it is such a pretty setting by the river. There was another film crew here a year ago.

"They shot some scenes inside the church and the big finale with the bride running across Marlow bridge."

The church is regularly booked for weddings, but Mr Jones said the publicity could encourage more people to choose All Saints' to get married in.

Namastey London trails the story of Arjun (played by Akshay Kumar), a kind-hearted, family oriented character from the heart of the Punjab who makes his way to London to win the heart of the British girl he has fallen in love with, played by Katrina Kaif.

Jonathan Lopera, a spokesman for the film, said it was one of the most eagerly awaited Bollywood films because Vipul Shah has vowed he will only make one love story in his life time and is tipped to be one of the hottest Bollywood directors for 2007.

Mr Lopera said the film was a first for Bollywood audiences on two levels because it deals with the controversial issue of mixed marriages and 80 per cent of it was filmed in the UK.
