A CONTROVERSIAL housing project at Marlow Railway Station has been rejected by Wycombe District Council.
Plans to build nine properties adjacent to the tracks on Station Approach attracted considerable criticism from neighbours over the scale of the proposed townhouses.
But WDC has thrown out the plans on a number of grounds, including the domineering effect the houses would have on nearby Riverpark Drive.
There were also fears over the security of the site, as well as concerns about flooding and losing an area earmarked for employment.
However, supporters of the scheme have complained of the lack of new housing projects in the town, welcoming a building to replace the disused scrubland that currently greets visitors to Marlow.
Applicant ML Developments now have the right to appeal to the secretary of state over the refusal.
