Pupils and staff at a High Wycombe school gathered for a special Remembrance Day service this morning.
Godstowe Preparatory School, in Shrubbery Road, has its very own ceramic poppy display, which was inspired by the iconic exhibit at the Tower of London.
More than 200 girls made their own ceramic poppy during art class, which were then planted in the flowerbeds.
War poems and prayers were read out by some of the pupils before they fell silent for two minutes at 11am.
Following the silence, pupils from nursery and pre-prep took it in turns to lay wreaths, which they had made in class.
The poppy display will remain in place for the next few weeks, after which girls will be able to take their poppy home and a donation made to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
David Gainer, headteacher, said: “It is so important that children these days continue to respect and understand what it is that those before us so bravely did on behalf of us all.
“Those in attendance thought it to be an extremely moving tribute and the girls were immensely respectful.”
