HYGIENE concerns were raised earlier this week after pools of raw sewage were spotted near the entrance to a pizza takeaway in Marlow.

The blockage occurred behind a row of buildings on West Street, with what appeared to be faeces and other solids visible in the car park directly opposite the back door to Domino’s Pizza.

An onlooker, who did not want to be named, said delivery drivers had to negotiate the filth to access the rear of the takeaway, sparking health and safety fears over the weekend.

He said on Monday: "You can see the toilet paper and everything, and the guys are traipsing that into the shop, it’s horrible.

"Obviously we all get sewage problems every so often, especially with the number of eateries around here, I don’t have a problem with that, it’s just no one seems to be sorting it out.

"Someone has got to take the responsibility for that."

Pinnnacle Property Management, which owns the freehold on the buildings affected, said the blockage was not brought to their attention until Monday morning.

Speaking on Wednesday, Pinnacle’s Mike Moore said: "It’s all been cleared up now. We got a call at 9.30 on Monday morning saying there was sewage coming out of the drains.

"We attended at 12.30, and cleared the drains, it was full of baby wipes.

"I have seen the pictures, it looked horrible, but there’s not a lot we can do but go down there and clean it."

Before taking on the lease, Domino’s inspected and carried out work on the drains to improve and renew the system.

A spokesman for Domino's said: "We can confirm that the drainage issue behind the Marlow store is now fixed.

"Food safety and hygiene is always of utmost importance across all Domino’s Pizza stores."
