The family of a man who died in police custody will be holding a vigil for him this weekend to mark his birthday.

Campaign group, Juctice4Paps, was set up after Habib ‘Paps’ Ullah died after suffering a cardiac arrest when he was restrained by police officers during a stop and search in Sharrow Vale in 2008.

Four years ago, an inquest began into the 39-year-old’s death. However, it had to be abandoned when it was revealed that police officers had been advised to alter parts of their statements by a solicitor.

The case was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service, but earlier this year the decision was taken not to prosecute the officers involved.

An Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigation was launched and another inquest is due to be heard in February.

Justice4Paps will be holding a peaceful candlelit vigil on Saturday from 5pm to 7.30pm outside High Wycombe Police Station.
