A Saturday bus service to and from Marlow town centre will be scrapped following a year’s trial due to a lack of funding.
The 160 community service from Marlow Bottom and Little Marlow was introduced for 12 months using a grant from Buckinghamshire County Council.
Yet based on usage figures for the Satuday service, BCC said it is not prepared to continue funding the service, which will now stop on January 31.
Marlow Town Council said although feedback was good, it cannot stump up the cash needed to continue running the route.
A council statement read: “BCC are not prepared to continue the trial and fund the majority portion of the costs.
“This would mean an untenable burden on the finances for MTC and other parish councils.
“Although good survey evidence supported the Saturday service, the figures from BCC didn’t back the feedback from the questionnaires.”
The 160 is operated by Red Eagle Buses under contract to Transport for Buckinghamshire.
Marlow Town Council said it considered moving the Monday service to allow for the weekend, but more passengers use the bus on weekdays.
