Three dognappers attacked a man and tried to take his beloved pet while he was walking one evening in High Wycombe.
Thames Valley Police said a 48-year-old man was ambushed by three men who punched and kicked him in an attempt to take his four-legged friend.
The pet owner was walking his dog at 6.50pm on Tuesday, December 23 at Holmers Farm.
Police said the man heard something in the bushes and shone his torch, but could not see anything.
When he continued walking, three men jumped on him and demanded the dog and attempted to take the dog lead.
He was punched and kicked before the men ran off, without taking his dog.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101.
