A woman was assaulted in woods in Cookham Dean on Saturday, sparking a police appeal for witnesses to the crime.

Between 5pm and 6.30pm on Saturday, the woman was assaulted in woods near Quarry Wood Road.

The victim reported the incident to a nearby resident who then called the police.

A police cordon is in place at Quarry Wood Road and Grubwood Lane for the car park and footpath opposite, while officers carry out an investigation.

Police are looking for a white man, wearing a grey T-shirt and black jogging bottoms.

The woman is also white and was wearing a dark jacket and pink tracksuit trousers with wellington boots.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who saw the pair, either together or alone, to get in touch.

Senior Investigating officer, Det Chief Insp Kevin Brown said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Startins Lane or Quarry Wood Road in Cookham Dean between about 5pm and 6.30pm on Saturday, to try and remember if they saw a female or a man either together or alone in either location.

“Officers are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this incident and so I urge anyone with information to call us on 101.”

Det Chief Insp Brown said the pair may have also been travelling in a small silver vehicle in that area at that time.
