A society of singers in Marlow raised a record £3530 at its latest concert, with the Mayor dropping in to a rehearsal last week to collect the charity cheque.
Marlow Choral Society’s sell-out carol concert at Court Garden - compered by TV presenter Christine Walkden - raised a grand total of £3,530 for charity, beating last year’s record of £3,000.
The town's mayor Suzanne Brown stopped by on Monday to receive a cheque for £1,200 on behalf of the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, one of her two nominated mayoral causes.
The Christmas concert was held on December 13 at the Shelley Theatre, Court Gardens.
Concert director Jackie Duxbury said: "We had a wonderful evening and I am delighted with the result."
Another cheque for £2,330 has been sent to St Clare Hospice in Harlow, Essex, the charity chosen by the compere.
Marlow Choral Society has just started rehearsals for a concert of French music, 'Vive La France!', to be held on May 9 at All Saints’ Church, Marlow.
