The High Wycombe Lions Club held a Celebration of Success event at the weekend to recognise the work they have done in the community and present the organisations they support with their cheques.

The dinner was held on Saturday at Hazlemere Golf Club, with more than 60 people attending the event, including guests from seven of the nine organisations that the club works with.

Wycombe Homeless Connection, Wycombe Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme, Thomas Ball Children’s Cancer Fund, The Mayor’s Charity 2014 to 2015, MacMillan Cancer Care, Disraeli Downley Youth Club and Booker Rangers were all at the event.

Each group was presented with a cheque for £150 with an extra £150 to the Wycombe Homeless Connection for food for the Night Shelters they carry out during the winter months.

Cheques for £150 will also be presented to South Bucks Association for Speech and Communication Help (SBASCH) and XP Support Group, whose representatives were unable to attend the evening’s celebrations.

These donations were in addition to the 300 food parcels distributed with the help of the police and donations from Rotary and Round Table.

Each charity representative explained how the donations would be spent in the Wycombe area to help those less fortunate.
