A team of budding geologists from Marlow will compete in the final of a prestigious national competition after triumphing in the regional rounds.
The geology team at Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School beat Reading’s Blue Coat school to go through to a showdown in April at the headquarters of the Geological Society in London.
As well as a series of quiz questions, the enthusiasts impressed judges as they presented a case for using methane gas as an energy source.
And after a narrow victory, the team of six sixth form students will compete for the coveted prize on April 30.
The winning Borlasians are Jess Nunn, Bijou Dunn, Alice Webster, Oliie Blagden, Harri Ravenscroft and Adam Woollett.
