A DECISION will be reached this week about where to place two sculptures in Marlow.
Some members of the Marlow Society want a twelve tonne granite sundial to be placed in Court Garden, Higginson Park, while another group want to see a statue of Sir Steve Redgrave on the same spot.
Paul Marston Weston, leisure services head at Wycombe District Council, said that members from Marlow Town Council, Wycombe District Council, Marlow Society and Appeal for a Permanent Tribute to Sir Steven Redgrave, will decide where to put the sculptures.
He said: "It is important that we all listen to one another and reach an educated decision."
Marlow mayor Derek Done believes there are a number of places in Higginson Park where both works can go and the idea that Court Garden is the only option is absurd. "There are countless places and position possibilities that it's nonsense to think only one will get the prized spot," he said.
Hugh McNearnie, chairman of the Appeal for a Permanent Tribute to Sir Steven Redgrave said the only perfect spot for the statue is in front of the house in Court Garden.
An official date for the meeting has not been released.
