A manhole cover burst into flames yesterday after passersby reported hearing an explosion.

Firefighters from Marlow were called to extinguish the unusual blaze in Lansdowne Way, High Wycombe, at about 7.35pm.
However, the fire was out on their arrival and engineers are now investigating the problem after setting up a safety cordon around the manhole.
Update: details from firefighters earlier stated the incident happened in Lansdowne Road, but they have now confirmed it was in Lansdowne Way of Cressex.
