An amateur dramatics enthusiast from Marlow who has become an internet sensation overnight says she has been “overwhelmed” by the response.

Sarah-Jane Gillman, from Gunthorpe Road, recorded a video of herself performing Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' hit song 'Uptown Funk' in sign language.

The clip has been viewed a staggering 3 million times, with the Marlow Amateur Operatic Society member and sign language student saying the reaction over the past week has bowled her over.

She said: “I’m still quite shocked by it all, it’s been crazy. I’ve had some lovely comments from deaf people and people working with deaf people.

“I’ve been overhwhelmed by the response.

“I love the song and my daughter really likes it too. I have a real interest in musical theatre and decided to put both my passions together and give it a go.”

33-year-old Sarah-Jane has previously recorded a video of herself signing a Christmas song, and has also recorded a version of Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’.

The full-time mum, who is expecting her fourth child, said she would like to work as an interpretor with deaf people once she is fully qualified.

The keen sign language pupil says she hopes the internet success will spur more people on to learn the skill.

And after the massive success of the Uptown Funk video, Sarah-Jane revealed she would relish the opportunity to perform the song on stage with Bruno Mars.

She said: “That would be amazing. I’m not sure Bruno Mars knows anything about it, I’m not on Twitter but someone suggested tweeting him.

"I certainly wouldn’t say no, that’d be lovely.”

Fans of the video can see Sarah-Jane in action on stage alongside fellow members of the operatic society next month.

The group will bring a taste of Las Vegas to Marlow from June 4 to 6 at Liston Hall, Marlow.
