A plot to burgle the south Buckinghamshire home of late entertainer Cilla Black has been foiled, according to reports.
In a statement released to the press by her former publicist, it has been revealed that her family have been forced to step-up security at the Denham home after a shocking burglary attempt.
A professionally-cut circular hole was reportedly discovered in the perimeter fence of the property following her death in Spain on August 1.
Her family have described the shocking news as "inconceivable" and Thames Valley Police are believed to be carrying out further investigations.
The statement from her former publicist Nick Fiveash read: “A plot to burgle the Buckinghamshire home of the late Cilla Black has been foiled today.
“A professionally-cut circular hole was discovered in the perimeter fence of her Denham home ahead of her funeral on Thursday, August 20.
“The police were immediately informed, 24-hour security has been increased on the property and all valuable assets including art, jewellery and her personal items have been removed and taken to a secured unit at an unknown location."

The attempted burglary plot was revealed to reporters following an inquest into the death of the television and singing star.
