Celebrity Warwick Davis was on hand to open a popular charity music festival at the weekend – despite a large power cut almost scuppering ending the event before it started.

Record crowds visited Knotty Green on for KnotFest 2015 and many had to help out by using back-up generators to ensure the festival was a big hit with residents.

A power cut affected the entire village, but the team at The Red Lion were eventually able to go ahead with the planned event.

Landlady Tina Massie said: “It was absolutely wonderful the way everyone rallied round – to find the generators, collect them and then set them up in time.

“Then, when they heard what had happened, two of my regular customers offered to pay for the generators. It just shows what a fantastic community spirit there is here.

“It really was an absolute miracle – it made me cry.”

More than £2,000 has been raised so far from this year’s event, with many coming to meet television star Warwick Davis and his wife, Sammy, who appears on TV’s ‘Loose Women’ show at the opening of the event.

Buckinghamshire bands took centre stage during the festival, with all the money they helped raise going to The Thames Valley Adventure playground for children and young adults with special needs and Little People UK, a charity set up by Warwick and Sammy Davis to offer support to people with dwarfism, their families and friends.
