The Bourne End Junior Craft Show saw another successful year as young artists battled it out to impress judges with their masterpieces.
Hundreds of entries were submitted to the show on Saturday at Bourne End Library, including paintings, needlework and cardboard sculptures.
The judge’s favourite, and winner of the Penny Walsh Cup, was nine-year-old Mollie Parker with her cardboard model “Guinea Pig World".
The craft show was launched three years ago by 13 year-old Amy Croall, after learning that the competition she loved entering at the horticultural show had been cancelled.
And since then the competition has flourished, with the 232 pieces submitted on Saturday tripling last year’s entries.
Amy’s mum, Sue Croall, of Cores End Road, said she was ‘delighted’ with the turnout at the competition, which outshone previous events.
She said: “It was a lovely day. It was absolutely buzzing with a great atmosphere.
“The judges certainly had their work cut out; it was so busy I didn’t get the chance to have a look at all the entries.”
“I don’t know exactly many children entered, but we had a steady flow of children come in throughout the day with some submitting as many as five entries."
