An operation has been launched by Thames Valley Police to deal with domestic violence in The Chilterns and south Bucks over the Christmas period.
Operation Christmas Gift, which launched on Friday, will see more police take to the streets to engage with bars and revellers and respond to alcohol induced incidents of domestic violence.
This follows the previous success of Operation Presence – the same campaign under a different name.
Insp Pete Foy, of Amersham police station, said: “We have been running this type of operation over the festive period for the past three years and we have seen a reduction in domestic assaults being reported across the Chiltern and South Bucks local police area.
“In 2014, 16 incidents of domestic assault were reported to police, compared to 25 in 2013 and 29 in 2013.”
