A cinema in Gerrards Cross is today displaying a touching tribute to David Bowie, who passed away yesterday after a battle with cancer.

The Everyman Cinema, in Ethorpe Crescent, proudly paid tribute to the singer with a reference to one of his most well-known songs, Heroes, from 1977.

The message, which can be seen above the front door of the cinema, says: "R.I.P David Bowie. We Could be Heroes."

As well as becoming a successful musician, Bowie, 69, had various film roles throughout his career.

He is well-known for his part as Jareth the Goblin King in 1986 fantasy Labyrinth - the opening scene of the 1986 film was filmed at West Wycombe Park.

Lisa Williams Venue Manager at Everyman Gerrards Cross said: “David Bowie’s influence stretches far beyond music; his loss will be felt by film lovers around the world, from those of us who were hypnotised by the power of voodoo in Labyrinth or watched in awe as he became The Man Who Fell To Earth.

"We thought it a fitting tribute to put Bowie’s name up in lights at Everyman Gerrards Cross tonight to honour the amazing legacy he leaves behind.”
