A 6-year-old boy who recently had major pelvic operation after being diagnosed with a life changing illness has walked to school this week much to the delight of his family and friends.
In October the MFP spoke to Natalie Trice – a Marlow Mum who wrote ‘Cast Life – A Parent’s Guide to DDH’ after her son, Lucas, was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip in 2009.
The congenital condition affects the hip joint, reducing mobility, and if left untreated can lead to extensive injuries.
And two months since having major surgery to reconstruct his pelvis, the Burford School pupil has made a speedy recovery and walked to school.
Natalie said, “We are absolutely delighted that Lucas has made so much progress and is now back at school, much sooner than we had expected.
“This was a massive operation and he has been an inspiration with his positive attitude and determination not to let DDH hold him back.”
As well as launching her book, Natalie has also set up charity Spica Warrior - to raise awareness of DDH.
