A Beaconsfield car company has helped raise over £15,000 for charity to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
Hughes of Beaconsfield, based in Station Road, teamed up with the Cure Parkinson’s Trust to launch a special raffle which will help the charity fund innovative projects and inspirational scientists moving towards a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
The degenerative disorder of the central nervous system affects around one person in every 500 in the UK.
The raffle managed to raise a staggering £15,140 for the charity and lucky raffle winner Jalpa Dhokia was presented with a new car.
Ms Dhokia visited Hughes of Beaconsfield on Saturday, January 9 and her prize, a smart forfour, was handed over by Jill Hughes – wife of the late Michael Hughes, who founded the company in 1955.
Mr Hughes was patron and a former trustee of the Cure Parkinson’s Trust and the company still continues to raise money for the charity through regular events and fundraising.
The next event held by the charity, a bluebell picnic, is set to take place at Hedsor Park on May 1.
