RAF High Wycombe was treated to a special guest appearance from BBC newsreader Huw Edwards.

The event, which took place earlier this month, was in aid of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. It provides support to members and associates of the RAF who need assistance as a result of accident, disability or poverty.

Huw, a familiar face from the Ten O'Clock News, gave a talk on his time in Basra, and other issues including the speed of technological advancement and its effect on the media.

An audience of 160 listened to the BBC anchorman, described by Flight Lieutenant and event organiser Michelle Burrows, as "a charming, well-spoken and thoughtful man who has given his time and talent to help raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund".

The event also raised more than £11,000, £3,000 more than last year's event, which will go to the RAF Benevolent Fund. A cheque was presented to the controller of the fund, Air Marshall Sir Robert White.
