HERE are some of the entries for the South Bucks Star's Prettiest Pooches competition.

The standard is already very high as the area's most-prized pets battle it out to become top dog and bag themselves a load of pampering goodies.

This week's entries include 15 month Retriever/Collie cross Murphy, whose picture was sent in by Michelle Wheeler, from Hazlemere.

Also pictured is Lucy, a Welsh Collie/Jack Russell cross who is seven-years-old and likes to watch next door's rabbit and dig up the vegetable patch at home in New Road, Princes Risborough.

There is also a photo of little Gregory, a seven week Dalmation/Collie cross sent in by James Gosnold on behalf of his sister.

Each week in the Star we will print some of the pictures sent in by readers and you will then have a chance to vote for your favourite.

The winner will scoop a £25 voucher from dog grooming company Canine Cutz, in the High Street, Downley, which can be used for treatments.

The best pet will also earn a £20 voucher towards microchipping or food at Ammerslee Pet Supplies, in Swains Lane, Flackwell Heath.

Both sets of vouchers have been kindly donated by the owners of the companies. The winner will also have his or her picture printed in the Star.

The closing date for entries is July 6.
